Frequently Asked Questions
A few things people often wonder about before we begin. If your question isn't here, you're always welcome to reach out.
What Is a Session Like?
This is not traditional hypnotherapy or psychotherapy. It is holistic coaching with space for spiritual exploration, curiosity, and the unexpected.
You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to explore. You might bring a pattern that keeps repeating, something from your past, a feeling you can't quite name, a spiritual question, or simply curiosity.
We talk first. From there, we may work with the body, explore across timelines, follow imagery or memories, work intuitively with energy, or simply stay with whatever begins to emerge.
Some journeys stay close to the present. Others may move through childhood, in-utero experiences, ancestry, another timeline, or a spiritual experience that doesn't fit neatly into words.
We don't force the destination.
You Have Control
You can be very aware throughout the experience. You can speak, ask questions, open your eyes, slow down, change direction, decline an exploration, or stop whenever you choose.
We use gentle techniques to help you settle in and explore at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Do I Need to Prepare?
Not much.
Come comfortable and give yourself a little space before the session to settle. If we are meeting virtually, choose somewhere private and quiet where you are unlikely to be interrupted. Keep some water nearby.
Please don't drive or do anything that requires your full attention during the session.
You don't need to know how to meditate, quiet your mind, or get yourself into any special state. There is nothing to practice or perfect before you arrive. I will guide you through the process.
How Long Is a Session?
Please set aside 90 minutes for your session.
We begin with a little time to talk, settle in, and understand what you would like to explore. The experiential part of the session may last around 60–75 minutes, depending on what unfolds.
We leave some space at the end to gently come back, talk about your experience if you would like to, and close the session without feeling rushed.
Will I Remember the Session?
Many people remain aware of the conversation and remember their experience afterward. Experiences vary, and you don't need to become unconscious or surrender control for this work.
What If I Don't See Anything?
That's completely okay.
Not everyone experiences vivid imagery. You might notice a sensation, emotion, thought, memory, word, impression, or simply a different perspective.
There is no particular experience you need to have. Every person's experience is different, and no particular experience or outcome can be guaranteed.
Do I Have to Be Spiritual?
No.
Spiritual exploration is available if it resonates with you. It is never something you have to believe in or participate in.
If imagery involving another lifetime, a guide, an ancestor, an out-of-body experience, or another plane of experience arises, we don't have to decide whether it is literally true. We can stay curious about the experience and explore what meaning it holds for you.
What If Something Emotional Comes Up?
We can slow down.
You can pause, talk, bring your attention back to the present, change direction, or end the exploration. You don't have to continue with something simply because it appeared during a session.
Can I Decide What I Don't Want to Explore?
Yes.
Your boundaries are part of the process. You can choose not to go somewhere, answer something, or continue an exploration.
Is What I Share Private?
What you share during your session is treated with care and privacy, within the limits described in your client agreement.
What Happens Afterward?
Give yourself a little room to return to your day. You may want some water, quiet time, a walk, or to write down anything you would like to remember.
Sometimes an experience feels meaningful immediately. Sometimes its meaning becomes clearer later. And sometimes it can simply remain an experience without needing to understand everything.
Is This a Substitute for Therapy?
No.
Duat provides holistic coaching, somatic practices, energy work, and spiritual and intuitive exploration for personal and spiritual growth.
These services are not psychotherapy, counseling, psychiatric care, medical care, diagnosis, or mental health treatment, and they are not a substitute for these services.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, significant psychological distress, or symptoms that require assessment or treatment, please seek support from an appropriately licensed mental health or medical professional.
If you are already working with a therapist or healthcare professional, Duat can remain a separate space for personal and spiritual exploration rather than replacing that care.
